About Highlands Fire District....

The Highlands Fire District proudly serves a population of over 6000 residents within 25 square miles in Northern Arizona. We are located within the nations largest contiguous stand of Ponderosa Pine forest just south of Flagstaff, Arizona. The Fire District includes the communities of Kachina Village, Forest Highlands, Mountainaire, Lower Lake Mary, and Pine Del.

Highlands Fire Department is a community based, combination fire department utilizing both career and volunteer certified firefighters. The Fire District utilizes five facilities: Station 21 accomodates the Administrative Offices & Resident Student Firefighters; Station 23 & 25 are staffed 24 hours a day by full-time duty crews; Station 22 houses an Interagency Fuels Management Module, and Station 24 is staffed by dedicated volunteer firefighters.

Highlands Fire District provides fire protection, emergency medical services, and public education programs for the communities we serve. The threat of wildfire is a major concern due to our innate locality within the Widland Urban Interface. The Fire District has developed effective programming to help mitigate that risk.
